Partitioned Space for Meditation and Reflection:

Good Friday, 2001--At 11p.m. a small group of "partitioners" entered a private, candle-lit home adorned with incense and four simple "stations:" a computer displaying a slide show of 100 different (and sometime disparate) images of Christ's life and death, another computer displaying >100 images of 3D computer art and photography, a "reading room" with multiple books and a final station composed simply of a copy of the Scriptures.

As the partitioners entered the home, music began: for the first hour, Gorecki's 3rd Symphony played. This moving piece for string orchestra, was written in response to the Holocaust. Other music used in the evening included tracks from Living Colour ("Elvis is Dead"), Coldplay ("Everything's Not Lost"), and tunes from the "Oh Brother Where Art Thou?" soundtrack.

Individuals were free to think, pray and simply be to themselves for the duration of the evening. After the music had finished, around 12:30a.m., a short discussion of feelings towards the evening followed and the night was brought to a quiet close.

Overall, the evening was viewed as energizing and important for it's role in the contemplation of the true purpose of Christ's life and death.
